Borchardt, Marie (Marriage - 1 Sept. 1954)

Miss Marie Borchardt of Edgar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Borchardt of Edgar, and Karl Schilling, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schilling of Colby, Wisconsin were united in marriage in St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wisconsin last week Wednesday morning, Rev. Vincent Schwartz reading the marriage vows.

As the bride approached the flower-decked altar she wore a white lace-over-satin hoop skirt topped by a bodice trimmed with tiny velvet bows and featuring a Peter Pan collar and white satin buttons. Her lace-edge finger-tip veil was secured by a pearl-trimmed crown and her bouquet was formed of white carnations encircling a lavender orchid.

Miss Edyth Siegel of Watertown, niece of the groom, served as maid of honor and Miss Betty Passehl of Athens, was bridesmaid. They were escorted by Vernon Siegel of Watertown, nephew of the groom, as best man and Frank Borchardt of Edgar, brother of the bride.

The gowns of the bridal attendants were fashioned of blue net over taffeta topped by net jackets over strapless bodices. Accenting their ensembles were blue gauntlets, blue velvet flower headpieces, and fans adorned with blue and white carnations.

Before departing on a honeymoon in the southern states the newlyweds greeted friends and relatives during a reception at the Borchardt home followed by a 4:30 P.M. wedding supper. When they return they will live on the groom’s farm on route 1, Colby, Wis.

Mrs. Borchardt attended the festivities attired in a navy blue crepe dress while the senior Mrs. Schilling wore a navy and white print crepe dress. Both mothers had corsages of white carnations and rosebuds and navy accessories.

The bride was formerly employed in Marshfield.

Guests were present from Chicago, Colby, Edgar, Milladore, Watertown, Milwaukee and Loyal.
